20 Mule Team Borax making a comeback?

I had not seen a box of this product in years, probably decades, when suddenly it appeared in our kitchen. I asked my wife why, and she said people use it to make homemade detergent and other products. That interested me considerably, particularly from a nostalgia point of view.
