When we were children, our parents subscribed to Best In Children's Books for us. It was a sort of Readers' Digest for children. We enjoyed them very much. They were hard-backed, and probably came once a month. I remember one story about a boy from Africa who ate dried, white caterpillars. That impressed us very much, and we may have attempted to imitate something like that. (I do not remember for sure, but it is likely). Another story I remember very much was about the Klondike gold rush.
I do not know if those books are still published.
