Douglas Fairbanks certainly was Hollywood royalty. He was the son of one of the great stars of the silent movie era, and was one of the best of the swashbucklers (
the best, in my opinion). He served on Lord Mountbatten's commando staff during World War II and received the Silver Star. In 1949 he was knighted and became Sir Douglas. He moved in the highest social circles in the UK, often entertaining Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip at his London mansion.
