Arguments over which old movies to watch
By "old" I mean older than I am, i.e., 1953 or before. Interestingly, it was about the time I was born that Hollywood really starting putting objectional language and situations in movies as common practice. We have a stand-off at home. Pam and I like old detectives - Sarah does not. Sarah and I like swashbucklers - Pam does not. Pam and Sarah like some chick flicks that I don't - although I do watch quite a few with them. There are some I can't stomach (e.g., anything with Gene "Singing in the Rain"). I have no one in my household that likes old cowboy movies. However, help is on the way: Jason is a fan. Also, Kathryn does watch Roy Rogers with me when she is in.

I must admit, some old cowboy movies are hard to handle, unless or course, they are Zorro!!
And I LOVE old detective movies!!
Sorry to post so many times but I keep thinking of things to say. I amaze David sometimes with my ability to predict the ending of movies and I think that is due to the amount of old detective movies I watched. If you see enough of those over time, you just come to inherently know how a plot should and probably will end in an old or a new movie.
kathryn will indeed carry the torch for you, mark.
Alas, It is true. I just can not, with enthusiasm, watch an old, and I do mean old, swashbuckler. I will sit through Robin Hood (the old TV show), for I do like to spend the time with Mark and Sarah. But, please, no sword fights with dancing!!!!!
As a child, I had mixed feelings about my dad bringing movies home from the library and video store because we started being forced to watch old musicals (mostly), westerns, and mysteries. (So, we saw PLENTY of Gene!) Today, I am thankful, and I find myself turning to AMC and TCM to see what good movies are being shown. Do you receive those channels there?
My wife will now be able to discuss in our old age (not that far off) the relative merits of Charlie Chan, Mr. Wong, Boston Blackie, and many more.
Most old movies I like but I have to caution everyone that as soon as Daddy finds out that you also enjoy the oldies he sends all the "B" rated movies to you (the ones he doesn't want anymore) which is nice except for the fact that if you watch one you can see very near the beginning why it was passed on and why it was rated "B." And yes, Jason is very pumped up about the movies you and he are going to torture all us women with.
Count me in for a Roy Rogers movie night. I'm following in my sister's footsteps. : )
Kindred Spirits with my dear Uncle. I have a passion for Black and White B cowboy movies. High class, intellectually stimulating entertainment. That's what I'm talkin' about.
And - the good guys always win.
It's because they wear white leotards tucked in their boots. Who dares compete with that?
And played guitar.
