Sgt. Schultz in the U. S. Army?

John Banner, who was famous as Sgt. Schultz in the TV series Hogan's Heroes, had emigrated from Austria, and in 1942 enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He did, in fact, become a supply sergeant.
