In old radio shows, if there was an Irishman involved, sooner or later you were going to hear the word "spalpeen" used. I just saw it in Stuart Palmer's book,
The Penguin Pool Murder. Just exactly what is a spalpeen? He is a rascal, and that pretty much sums it up.
