Barry Fitzgerald - one of the great ones
Barry Fitzgerald has to be among the all-time great character actors. If you have never seen him in a movie, you need to. A little dried-up Irishman. His most famous movie, of course, was Going My Way, for which he won an Oscar. But he also did several other excellent rolls, among which were:

oh, he's great. quiet man wouldn't be the same without him.
Fitzgerald took up residence in Hollywood and went on to give outstanding performances in such films as The Long Voyage Home (1940), How Green Was My Valley (1941), None But the Lonely Heart (1944), And Then There Were None (1945), Two Years Before the Mast (1946) and what is probably the role for which he is most fondly remembered, The Quiet Man (1952). He won the Academy Award For Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of gruff, aging Father Fitzgibbon in Going My Way (1944). In an Academy first, he was also nominated for the Best Actor Award for the same role, the only actor to ever be so honored.
I JUST finished watching the quiet man. I forgot just how much I love that movie. Makes me want to watch some more great old movies. I am queing in my netflix, Top Hat, Easter Parade, The Awful Truth, and such. I can't wait!
He was mean to Bing so I have issues with him. Or maybe I just have issues.
