We are shorthanded in the office where I work, and several of us have pressing personal issues that are going to require us to miss additional time, which really creates a hardship on the remaining persons. The Site Manager walked through the other day, and reassured one of the ladies, "Do what you have to do; we'll take care of things here." Well, "we" won't be taking care of anything. He likely will not even inquire further to see what the situation is. It won't affect him at all, but still it is "we" that will take care of it.
