Sister Faye Fields was a prodigious quilter. At one of the showers given for us before we were married, she presented us with one that was beautifully made. She told us, "I know you have your love to keep you warm, but on really cold nights you might need a quilt." Special memory.

By the time Lyndol and I were married, she and Phil were living at Oak Manor. She gave us a pillow she had made from scraps and $5 in an envelope. She told me that it wasn't as much as she wanted to do, but was everything that she could do. It was quite humbling. I had never before received a widow's mite, and I hope I never forget her generosity.
She knew what was what, I reckon.
