Nana and the navy blue socks

For quite a few years, my mother-in-law would always give me socks as a gift - always navy blue. They were all-purpose and worked very well, so there was no problem in that regard. The rub came from the fact that there are many different shades of navy blue, and is seemed she gave me a different shade every year. This made sorting the socks a real problem, especially under artificial indoor lighting.
