I understand that verse with rhyme and meter is poetry. I understand in some of the Biblical passages that parallelisms are poetry. But where is the line between poetry and prose. Prose can be beautifully sculptured. Some of Churchill's speeches are magnificently expressed - but they are not poetry. I suppose you can slap definitions on anything, but that means very little.
To me, poetry must be something beautifully stated in a manner other than how it would have been expressed in normal conversation. Prose is normal expression; poetry is altered somehow from the norm.
