Ed Ames and the Ames Brothers

This was a singing group that was popular in the 1950s. They were of Ukrainian descent. Their first big hit was Rag Mop, which reached the top of the charts. They had their own television show for a while. After the group dissolved, Ed Ames continued his career on his own. Before I knew anything about the singing group, I knew Ed as the actor who portrayed the Indian character Mingo on the Daniel Boone television series. He had a resonant speaking voice and was very eloquent.
