Hold That Blonde (1945)

Eddie Bracken being one of my wife's very favorite actors, this romantic comedy makes a very appealing movie to us. Bracken plays a wealthy kleptomaniac named Ogden Spencer Trulow III, whose butler is the great Willie Best. He goes to a psychiatrist (George Zucco) to help him with his problem. Zucco discovers that a lost romance was the cause of the problem, and advises him to fall in love again.

He bumps into Veronica Lake on the street later on. She is one of a gang that is planning to steal the Romanoff necklace. He unwittingly steals her compact, which had the combination to the safe they are planning to rob. She comes to his apartment to get it back, just as her parole officer shows up to check on her, so she pretends that she and Bracken are newlyweds. Bracken falls in love with her immediately (of course), and the hilarious complications begin.

Really an excellent movie. We recommend it highly.
