Wilfred Arthur Greene, 1st and last Baron Greene was born on 30 December 1883 at Beckenham, Kent, England.1,2 He was the son of Arthur Weguelin Greene and Katherine AgnesTooks.1 He married Nancy Wright, daughter of Francis Wright, on 28 May 1909.3 He died on 16 April 1952 at age 68.1
He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England.1 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1906 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).3 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1908 entitled to practice as a Barrister-at-Law.3 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1912 with a Master of Arts (M.A.).3 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 2/1st Battalion,Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry.3 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918.3 He was decorated with the award of the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1918.3 He was decorated with the award of the Croix de Guerre.3 He was decorated with the award of the Cavaliere, Order of the Crown of Italy.3 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1919.3 He was invested as a King's Counsel (K.C.) in 1922.3
