Good at one thing, poor at another

What have you accomplished if you are very good an unimportant thing, but at the same time very poor at the important things? It is a sad fact of this sinful world that its accolades go to those who are accomplished at the things of this world. Those who quietly go about doing a sterling job at the truly important things of life go largely unnoticed, while those who make a big splash in the "cotton candy" activities of the world are constantly in the headlines.

How many faithful mothers have there been who cared for their children and husbands in quiet obscurity? How many fathers have worn themselves into an early grave answering the whistle at work?  They are the heroes. But the authors and performers and athletes and politicians and scientists and all those who neglected the basic, important things in life in order to get great accomplishments elsewhere - they are the ones that are remembered. It is that way in this world, but God sees, and God knows, and those who do what He commanded, in the way He commanded, will have His "well done," and that is worth more than the applause of the whole world.

Young people, if you would be truly valuable in life, then make sure the thing you are doing is the thing that is truly important - the way that God counts importance.
