Lord Lovat

We Americans often to think of the British nobility as weak and useless, but such was not the case with this hero of World War II. Simon Christopher Joseph Fraser, 15th Lord Lovat and 4th Baron Lovat was the 25th Chief of Clan Fraser. He was a distinguished commando officer. He eventually became a brigadier in command of the 1st Special Service Brigade, which landed at Sword Beach during the Normandy invasion.

Bill Millin, his personal piper, who had piped the troops ashore at Normandy, played at Lord Lovat's funeral.

More HERE about Bill Millin.
