Warren Douglas stars as a vacationing American business man (firecracker buyer) who becomes a patsy for a group (headed by glamorous June Vincent) planning to steal a necklace from an Indian dignitary's wife. They set up Douglas when his luggage is searched. He is cleared, but the thieves escape into Rome. One interesting feature is the appearance of our old friend, Isabel Randolph (Abigail Uppington of Fibber McGee & Molly) as one of the passengers on the flight. She is a talkative Pekingese dog fancier. He meets the sister (Lois Hall) of the inspector who was involved in the jewel case, and strikes up a friendship. In the meantime, her brother is getting himself captured by the thieves. Then, the thieves also nab Douglas, but they run into Randolph, and he uses her to evade them.
The investigator finally escapes. Two of the thieves try to double cross the other two, just as Douglas and Hall show up at the shop where the thieves are making their getaway. Douglas lights a firecracker and overpowers the crooks.
Pretty good show.

Nice review! And may I ask where you found this title? It's so hard to locate many of the Republic Studios films.
