The British Army

Their navy is called The Royal Navy and their Air Force is The Royal Air Force. But not so with their Army. In 1689, there was a bill of rights imposed during the reign of William and Mary. It provided that the king of England could never have an army during peace time without the consent of Parliament. That tradition has continued even during wartime.
