Nothing, except possibly the discovery that the ground on which she treads is worshipped by a butler for who she has long entertained feelings deeper and warmer than those of ordinary friendship, can raise a woman's spirits more than the knowledge that the brother who is the apple of her eye is, in spite of appearances, in full possession of his marbles.
