Bat Masterson - "Incident in Leadville"

Bat rides into town to stop John Cliff from harrassing a paper boy. He knows Helen Jay, who runs a dress shop. He has seen a newspaper editorial saying that the West must rid itself of gunmen - like Bat - so he goes to see the editor. She turns out to be Kathleen Crowley, who accuses him of having killed a man named Jack Wagner in cold blood. Wagner had killed Ed Masterson, Bat's brother. Bat tells her that he had no choice but to kill Wagner. He confronts Cliff and Edward Platt, his boss. In the meantime, King Fisher (played by Jack Lambert), a man who loses no love for Bat, is on his way to Leadville. (Fisher was a real-life gunman)

Crowley writes an editorial against Platt, but no one will read the papers until Bat buys them all and makes them take copies. Jay tells Bat that Cliff is riding to a mining camp to get dynamite, and Bat follows him, but they capture and disarm him. They tell him they intend to blow up the newspaper office. Bat turns the table on them, however, and head back to town with them. They run into Fisher, who draws on Bat, but too late. Crowley let's Bat write the headline story about the incident.
