For a while, the singer on the Fibber McGee and Molly radio show was Jimmy Shields.
HERE is a newspaper article announcing Shields' start with the program. It says he is not an Irish tenor, but I think a pretty good case could be made that he was just that.

Knowing the family, I can confirm he was Irish, not Italian, but agree his ability to sing would lead anyone to think otherwise. His children are all still in the Toronto area. Sadly Jimmie died after a lengthy illness, mainly pining for his wife Audrey, who dies suddenly at a young age (mid-fifties) of a heart problem while scuba-diving with son Michael at Tobermory. CBC used to have some archived tapes of the singing, but I don't know if those are still around or not.
