Training our children to be unimaginative

My granddaughters are playing games at our house right now. The only props they have are bar stools. Nothing electronic, just a few simple props and a little imagination. So many children today cannot entertain themselves because we have trained them so that they can only be entertained by electronic devices. Sort of brain-dead, in other words. My father, who grew up in the Depression, has forgotten more simple games than most of us will ever know. They had nothing, and yet they were always able to have fun. Children do not have to have a lot of "things" to have fun - unless we train them that way.
