Colonel March of Scotland Yard: "Murder Is Permanent"

Ewan Roberts calls at the home of Elspet Gray, where she is arguing with her mother-in-law, Margaret Halstan. She calls the manager (Neal Arden) of the beauty salon she owns and which Gray manages. He has been embezzling money from the firm, which Gray knows about. She falsifies the records to protect him, but extorts a larger payback from him.

Roberts reports Halstan's suspicions to Colonel March (Boris Karloff), and he is interested. They visit the salon the next day. Ruth Schiell, a worker their, finds Halstan dead under the hairdryer. She had been stabbed. Ruth Schiell, a worker at the salon, had been giving Halstan a shampoo. Schiell's boyfriend, Patrick Holt, is the masseur. He confesses to the murder, but Schiell says he did it only to protect her because they are secretly married. Then she confesses. Gray says that Arden did it, and then committed suicide. But Karloff says that Gray did it, with Arden's help.
